The Wiscasset High School girls basketball team snapped a four-game losing streak on Dec. 18 with a 48-38 win over Lisbon.
Wiscasset jumped out to a 13-3 first-quarter lead, scoring the first nine points of the quarter. The Wolverines maintained their lead in the second frame and went
into the halftime break up 27-16.
Lisbon came out of the break with an aggressive press to outscore Wiscasset 16-4 and take a 32-31 lead at the end of three. Lisbon ended the third quarter with 10
straight points, including a buzzer beater by Jasmine Le to take their first lead of the ball game.
The Lady Wolverines out-rebounded the Greyhounds 17-4 in the final period, led by Kayla Gordon who hauled down 10 of her game high 19 rebounds in the frame.
Wiscasset rattled off 10 straight points to take an eight point lead with 2:42 to play. Lisbon was forced to foul, and the Wolverines made good on four of eight shots to extend
their win to 10 points.
Scoring for Wiscasset were Alecia Faulkingham 17 (8R,2A,2S), Kayla Gordon 15 (19R,4S,3A), Tylan Onorato 10, and Gabby Chapman (2A), Miranda McIntire (8R), and
Colleen Hendricks (2R) 2 each.
Scoring for Lisbon were Mikayla Yorez 12, Jasmine Le 10 (6R), Mia Durgin 8, Breeann Sautter 3, and Kipri Steele 3 (5R,4S).
In other news, the Wiscasset girls basketball team picked up their second straight win on Saturday with a 30-14 win at Mt. Abram. No results were reported to the
LCN.
