The Wiscasset girls basketball team snapped a four game losing streak Monday night on a long road trip to Mt.Abram. Wiscasset outscored the Roadrunners 18-9 in the fourth quarter to pull out a 44-33 win, their second of the season.
The Lady Wolverines jumped out to an 8-0 first quarter lead. Mt.Abram cut the lead in half just 26 seconds into the second frame and took the lead on an Alex Harnden three-pointer with 5:13 to go in the half.
The Roadrunners led 16-13 at the break. Wiscasset held a 13-8 advantage in the third period to take the lead for good. They led 26-24 going into the final period.
Kayla Gordon hit a pair at the line to open the fourth. Harnden scored a foul shot for Mt.Abram, before Gordon connected at the line for a three point play to put Wiscasset up by six. The Roadrunners hit another foul shot, before Gordon crashed the glass for two to give the Wolverines a seven point lead. Neither team made their foul shots down the stretch, as Wiscasset held on for the win.
There were 73 foul shots taken in the game, and both teams shot miserably from the charity stripe. Wiscasset made 18 of 39, and Mt.Abram 15 of 34.
Wiscasset dominated the boards in the win, with a 49-27 advantage. Gordon hauled in 18 rebounds, Briana Goud 15, and Miranda McIntire 9.
Scoring for Wiscasset were Gordon 17 (7B,3S), Gabby Chapman 9 (2R,4S), McIntire 5, Goud 7 (4B,2S), Hanna Foye 3, Hanna Campbell 2, and Alecia Faulkingham 1. Scoring for Mt.Abram were Alora Ross 12, Harnden 10, Olivia Ryan 7, Sally Stevens 2, Sarenah Lariviere, and Brooke Millbury 1.
Adrianna White scored four points in overtime to lift the Greyhounds to the win.
Scoring for Wiscasset were Gordon 14, Goud 10, McIntire 6, Faulkingham 5, Foye 5, and Tylan Onorato 4. Scoring for Lisbon were White 15, Mia Durgin 14, Katelyn Fowler 6, and Mikayla Yanez 5.
