Wiscasset girls won their first game of the season, 1-0 over winless Boothbay in a most unconventional way Tuesday in Boothbay. Late in the second half, Lauren Trudeau centered a pass from the left wing. Boothbay inadvertently kicked the ball into the back of their own net while attempting to clear the cross, and Trudeau was credited with the goal.
Boothbay held a 23-15 advantage in shots, but were unable to breach the Redskin net, guarded by Abby Austin. Austin came up big with 21 saves to earn the shutout. Mikayla McFettridge made 12 saves in net for Boothbay.
