Wiscasset Middle School baseball defeated Jefferson 10-4 to win the Busline League Southern Division championship on June 10 and advance to the Busline championship game. Travis Padilla started and collected the win in three innings of work (0H, 6K, 4B, 1R), Tyler Bailey pitched one inning (1R, 0K, 1H, 1B), and Dylan McMahon closed out the final three innings (2R, 1B, 2H, 3K).
Devin Scherer (4I, 9R) and Wally Morris (3I, 1R) pitched in the loss.
Wiscasset scored all the runs they needed in the 1st inning. The Warriors scored five runs on four hits and an error. Padilla hit a lead off single, McMahon a double, Michael Stewart reached on a fielder’s choice, Matthew Craig reached on an error, and Jacob Allen and Ben Chadwick followed with singles in the quick start.
Hitting for Wiscasset were Darin Wood with 3 singles, McMahon a double and single, Chadwick 2 singles, and Padilla, Bailey, Allen, Josh Hodgdon and Travis Anderson a single each. Hitting for Jefferson were Scherer, Chad Carter and Sean Burke a single each.
