Wiscasset boys soccer team picked up their sixth win (6-3-2) of the season Tuesday, with a 2-0 victory over Spruce Mountain.
Russell Marr broke the ice when he settled a Camden Reiss cross and breached the Phoenix net with 13:02 remaining in the half. JD Souza made it 2-0 with 32:55 to go in regulation on a through-pass from Brandon Goud.
Wiscasset held a 21-10 advantage in shots. Dylan McMahon made eight saves to earn the shutout. Dustin Jones made 17 stops for Spruce Mountain.
Defensively, Alex Webber and Ethan Jones played well, coach Todd Souza said. “Mason Whitaker, Logan Grover and Brycson Grover played well in the middle,” Souza said of the trio controlling the game. “Up top, Russell (Marr) and JD (Souza) played well keeping the pressure on their defense, and forcing turnovers,” coach Souza said.
