Wiscasset boys picked up their fourth straight win Tuesday night in a road game at Lisbon, 54-39. The Redskins led the entire game, holding a 13-8 edge at the quarter, 29-14 lead at the half, and 43-29 lead at the end of three.
Scoring for Wiscasset were Cody Griffin 14 (10R,3A), Ashton Benn 12 (5R,2A), Jordan Jones 10, Mason Brewer 8 (11R), Devon Grover 6 and Tyler Sonia 4. Scoring for Lisbon were Eck 10, Whitney 8, Audie 8, Begov 5, Obie 4, Harrington 2 and Branson 2.
After a cold shooting 1st half, Wiscasset came out of the halftime break on fire, scoring 18 points to take the lead for good. Devon Grover scored eight in the rally and Jordan Jones and Ashton Benn hit a three-pointer each. Benn went six for six at the foul line in the 2nd half, including sinking four in the final 3:19 to play.
Wiscasset led 31-28 at the end of three. Robbie Neal tied the score on a three-point play. Jay Lamoureux and Benn hit shots to boost Wiscasset’s lead to four. Neal pulled the Mustangs within one with 4:35 to go. Benn hit two at the foul line, and Roger Bachelder scored for Monmouth to again make it a one-point game. Benn drove the lane for two, then assisted Grover for two, and Jordan Jones settled two at the line with a 1:14 to go to boost Wiscasset’s lead to seven and put the game out of reach of the Mustangs.
Scoring for Wiscasset were Grover 16 (2R,2S), Benn 15 (8R,4A,1S), Jones 8 (3R,4A,2S), Lamoureux 5 (2R,1A), Tyler Sonia 2 (2Rm,4A), and Mason Brewer 2 (4R,1A,1S). Scoring for Monmouth were Neal 13, Bachelder 12 (8R), Tim Whitmore 9 and Elliott Kahl 5 (8R,2S).
“We dominated the post. Mason Brewer and Ashton Benn played really well. Ashton played well in both games. Our sophomores Jordan Jones and Devon Grover are growing up fast,” coach Wayne Benjamin said. Wiscasset won both games without senior Conrad Griffin.
Scoring for Wiscasset were Brewer 12, Benn 12, Sonia 11, Jones 9, Grover 5, Chris Brawn 2, Corey Hodgdon 2, Zach Pickering 2, Ben Jones 1 and Lamoureux 1. Scoring for Winthrop were Gordon 15, Arsenault 6, Conant 3, Foster 3, Kilgore 2, White 2, and Castonguay 1.
