Yarmouth tied the game in the 5th. With two outs, Max Grimm reached on an infield error and scored on a Bull Haley double. Merritt Wotton ended the inning with a catch in center field.
Scoring the tying run shifted the momentum to the Clippers. Yarmouth tagged Eagle starter Brandon Reilly for four hits and three runs in the 6th to win 4-1. Aidan Sullivan hit a lead off single, went to second on an outfield error and pinch runner Matt Guiney scored on a Bryce Snyder single. Pinch runner Caleb Uhl scored on a Ryan Cody single. Pinch runner #20, no name given, scored on a single to Grimm.
Brandon Reilly took the loss, his first of the season (7K, 1HP, 4B, 5H). Alex Cosgrove came in with two outs in the 6th and fanned the only batter he faced. Aidan Sullivan pitched masterfully in the loss, limiting the Eagles to just two hits (9K, 2B, 1HP), an infield single to Reilly in the 1st and Scherer’s single in the 4th. Hitting for Yarmouth were Haley a double, and Sullivan, Snyder, and Cody a single each.
Defensively, the Eagles turned a double play in the 2nd on a ground ball to Stephen Quinlan at shortstop, second baseman Bo McLain tracked down a high ball in right field, and catcher Jeff Lamb made a nice catch on a foul ball down the first base line. Yarmouth played errorless ball in the win.
