Fourth ranked York topped fifth seed Lincoln Academy boys’ soccer 3-0 on Oct. 27 in the West Class B quarterfinals in York. “They were really good, as we knew they would be. They had a new coach and were really motivated. They were as quick and fast as any team I’ve seen. York’s speed caused us problems. We never were able to adjust to their quickness,” LA Coach KJ Anastasio said.
York dominated play, holding a 19-5 edge in shots. Kyle Scherer made nine stops in net for the Eagles, and Noah Rickerich five for York.
“These guys over achieved all year because of their hard work,” Anastasio said of his Eagle team. “We are delighted to have the record we have [9-3-2],” Anastasio said.
The Eagles graduate nine seniors. “We have a lot of underclassmen with a good amount of playing time. We have a great core coming back,” Anastasio commented.
