A break in a water line on Church Street in Damariscotta Thursday morning temporarily impacted service to several private and commercial consumers in the immediate area of the School Street intersection.
Workmen from Hagar Enterprises Inc. and the Great Salt Bay Sanitary District found and repaired the break shortly before noon.
According to Julie Hart, office manager for the Great Salt Bay Sanitary District, the break temporarily affected three restaurants along Damariscotta’s Main Street (Business Route 1) – Lucky Fortune, Dunkin’ Donuts, and Romeo’s Pizza – as well as Mia’s Shear Perfection, a full-service hair salon on Church Street.
Romeo’s closed briefly during the outage, but the others stayed open, providing limited services. Representatives from all four businesses indicated they were just awaiting the return of the water supply to resume normal operations.
