The next meeting of the Garden Club of Wiscasset will be on Thursday, Oct. 7, in the education center building at the Maine Tasting Center. Parking is in the back on Old Bath Road.
There will be a flower design program at 11:30 a.m. with an Ikebana theme. A brief business meeting at 12:30 p.m. will be followed by the program, “Stories of Maine’s Apples,” presented by John Bunker, Maine’s Apple Whisperer, at 1 p.m.
Bunker is a farmer, author, artist, historian and educator. He has been a mentor to many aspiring and established apple growers, and both home and professional cider makers. He started Fedco Trees in 1984, and throughout the years, he has tracked down many heirloom apple varieties in Maine.
