Top ranked Monmouth Academy girls soccer team beat 8th seed
Wiscasset 9-1 in a South C quarter-final match-up on Oct. 26 in Monmouth. The Mustangs jumped out to a 2-0 halftime lead on goals from Aubrey Fletcher and Tia Day.
Wiscasset stayed with the Mustangs at the opening of the second half. Monmouth’s third goal with 26:18 to play opened a floodgate of seven goals in 21 minutes of play.
Wiscasset spoiled the shutout with 12:40 to play when Gabby Chapman scored a penalty, called after a Wolverine was pushed down in the box.
Monmouth freshman Audrey Fletcher scored four goals, junior Tia Day two, senior Haley Fletcher two and junior Emily Grandahl one.
