The 13th Annual Westport Island 10K Run and 5K Fun Walk is scheduled for Sun., Sept.10. The 3.5 mile Fun Walk begins at 8:30 A.M. and the 10K race starts at 9 a.m. Contestants can register now and get more information about the race at: www.westportisland.org. T-Shirts are only guaranteed if registration is completed by August 24 by 5 pm.
The 10K race on bridge-accessible Westport Island, Maine – less than an hour north of Portland – takes place on a beautiful, wooded USATF-certified course, with almost no traffic, that crosses two waterways.
The race is to benefit the Westport Island Volunteer Fire Department, whose members provide logistical support and direct traffic at the event. Last year, the road race generated $1,500.00 for the firefighters; during the past 12 years, the race has generated over $17,000 for the firefighters!
Registration and bib pick-up will take place beginning at 7:30 am at the Old Town Hall on the Main Road, Westport Island on race day.
