A reading and book-signing of “Angus Tapangus from Kangamangus,” by Linda Dobson Porter, will take place on Saturday, Aug. 19, at 1 p.m. at Sherman’s Maine Coast Book Shop, 162 Main St., Damariscotta. “Angus Tapangus from Kangamangus” is the story of a “too large for us” puppy who, upon watching his siblings go home with their new families, decides to set off on an adventure to find his very own family. He knows in his heart that he is not only a good boy, but that he is a “good, good boy!” But what he wants more than anything in the whole world is a family of his own to tell him this very thing. This family will have a little boy or girl and a fireplace — he doesn’t really know what a fireplace is, but he has heard of them and they sound wonderful.
“Angus Tapangus from Kangamangus” is a sweet story with a bit of a twist at the end and a great message about acceptance, love, adventure, friends, and family.
A percentage of sales of the book will go to the Lincoln County Animal Shelter in Edgecomb.
Attendees can also meet Chunk, one of the inspirations for the story — and a really great dog.
