Stable Gallery’s wrap-up art show of the 2017 season will begin Friday, Sept. 8. The show, titled “Art Harvest,” celebrates the autumn season’s bountifulness. Colorful paintings, lush hand-knitted mittens, painted silk scarves, and wooden bowls are among the many pieces on display.
Seven member artists who manage the gallery are hosting a public reception to meet the artists on Sept. 8 from 5-7 p.m. The gallery is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Oct. 20.
Every Stable Gallery show highlights the work of a cross section of the almost 40 Maine-based artists represented by the gallery. This show focuses on Fiona Washburn’s silk scarves; Janet Percival’s woolen hats, gloves and sweaters; and Stephen Vowles’ wooden bowls.
Jackie Melissas crafts raku and fired ceramic sculptures that are beautiful and useful as vases. Rosalind Welsh’s jewelry adds dazzle to any body. The paintings of the five highlighted artists complement each others’ talents. Jon Luoma, Daisy Greene, Polly Smith, Bob Thomas, and Welsh offer their distinctive interpretations of the natural world.
The Stable Gallery is located at 26 Water St., Damariscotta. To learn more about the gallery and participating artists, go to stablegallerymaine.com or call 563-1991.
