Just in time to launch the holiday season (and before things get too hectic), Heartwood Regional Theater Company will present the second annual staged radio theater-style performance of “Merry Christmas, George Bailey!” on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 1 and 2. This beloved heartwarming story is perfect for family audiences, with student ticket prices kept to a low $5, thanks to student ticket sponsors First Advisors and Colby & Gale.
Back at Heartwood by popular demand for a second season, the original 1940s Lux Radio Theater show, adapted from Frank Capra’s movie “It’s a Wonderful Life,” will be performed as a ramped-up staged reading in the intimate Parker. B. Poe Theater at Lincoln Academy in Newcastle. A festive set design, live sound effects, music, and great humor make this well-loved holiday story a treat for the entire family.
With musical commercial breaks for show sponsors and a nod to our Midcoast area, radio-audience signs for applause and laughter, and delicious pre-show treats, “Merry Christmas, George Bailey!” has all the makings of a delightful, feel-good evening — a lovely way to kick off the holiday season.
With only three performances, including a Saturday matinee, tickets will go quickly. Reservations are strongly suggested: call 563-1373 or email info@heartwoodtheater.org.
