The Heywood Gallery, at 921 Main St. in Waldoboro, will host the opening of “The Paintings of Allen Bunker” for ArtWalk Waldoboro on Saturday, Aug. 10 from 4-7 p.m.
A self-taught artist for over 20 years, Bunker describes his works as “landscape allusions,” since they depict feelings rather than locations. “For me, it’s all about the possibilities of what lies beyond, or through, or in,” he said.
Bunker’s semiabstract oils are compilations of textures, shapes, and colors that create a range of emotions. “I try to paint the feeling I get from a particular scene,” said Bunker.
“The Paintings of Allen Bunker” runs through Friday, Aug. 16. The Heywood Gallery is open for the first three Thursdays and Fridays of August, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., in addition to the art walk on Aug. 10 from 4-7 p.m., and by chance or appointment.
In addition to this special exhibition, the Heywood Gallery also features the modern and traditional landscapes, still lifes, and custom pet portraits of American realist Anne Heywood, an artist and art educator, and the owner of the gallery. For further information, go to anne@anneheywood.com.
