A right-sided pass on Route 1 in Wiscasset in the vicinity of the Lil’ Mart turned into a three-car collision at about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 30.
Jacob Alexander, 24, of Harrison, was traveling southbound on Route 1 in a black 2004 Ford Escape, according to Wiscasset Police Sgt. Willy Simmons.
Sabrina M. Roman, 19, of Richmond, was operating a red 2005 Nissan Sentra southbound on Route 1, and was preparing to turn into the Lil’ Mart, Simmons said.
Alexander reported that he was under the assumption Roman was making a left-hand turn, and attempted to pass her on the right, Simmons said.
Roman did not see Alexander attempting to pass her on the right and the vehicles collided. Mary Huntington, 78, of Boothbay Harbor, was in a 2004 Subaru Legacy at the stop sign at the entrance to the Lil’ Mart.
Alexander’s vehicle continued to travel after the collision with Roman and hit Huntington’s vehicle, which spun around before coming to a rest, Simmons said.
Huntington was evaluated at the scene by the Wiscasset Ambulance Service, but did not require transportation to a hospital, Simmons said. There were no other injuries, he said.
The Wiscasset Fire Department also responded for traffic control and cleaned up debris from the accident.
