The annual Walt Gallant Walk-A-Thon will be held on Sunday, April 9 at 1 p.m., with a rain date of Sunday, April 23, at the downtown branch of Damariscotta Bank & Trust. The walk will cover approximately three miles, ending back at the bank.

The Wells-Hussey American Legion Post 42 in Damariscotta will hold an American Legion birthday celebration on Wednesday, March 22. The celebration was originally scheduled for Wednesday, March 15, but the date was changed due to the impending storm.

Local Nurse Called ‘One of a Kind’ By Peers
Registered nurse Wendy Dinsmore, a South Bristol native and current nurse manager at St. Andrews Village Retirement Community in Boothbay Harbor, didn’t always know that nursing was her calling — but everyone around her did. While working at a lumber yard and a Ford dealership, people began bringing injured employees to her to take care of. She wasn’t sure why, but they did, and she cared for them with a sense of tranquility.

Free Supper at St. Giles’ Episcopal Church

Because of the unusually warm weather and rain due over the next week, the Lincoln County Fish and Game Association is canceling its Youth Ice Fishing Day that was scheduled for Sunday, March 5 at Kalers Pond in Waldoboro.
March is National Reading Month
March is National Reading Month, and the Lincoln County Historical Association encourages young readers to engage in history-themed reading. Local libraries carry a number of books that will enhance appreciation of life in an earlier time on the Midcoast of Maine. Their collections include a wide variety of books whose authors have woven 18th- and 19th-century-based stories into “good reads.”

Final Countdown to Karl’s Kids Fundraiser
The 10th annual Karl’s Kids ski-day fundraiser will be held Friday and Saturday, March 3 and 4 at Sugarloaf in Carrabassett Valley. The event kicks off on March 3 at 6 p.m. at The SugarBowl restaurant and game center for a family evening of food, games, and fun. A portion of the proceeds from that evening will benefit Karl’s Kids.
