The Lincoln County News will publish a day early the week of Thanksgiving (Tuesday, Nov. 21).

The deadline for letters to the editor and press releases – normally 5 p.m. Monday – is 5 p.m., Friday, Nov. 17, for the Thanksgiving edition.

Veterans Day Weekend Post Office Hours

While most businesses will be celebrating Veterans Day on Friday, Nov. 10, the U.S. Postal Service will be open for business as usual. Our carriers will be out delivering mail and post office clerks will be available for postage, shipping, and passport needs. 

Damariscotta Police Department Winter Parking Ban

This notice is for all motorists that park on any street/road or in the municipal parking lot after hours in Damariscotta. The winter season is upon us. In accordance with the Town of Damariscotta Traffic & Parking Ordinance, Article 1.17 Winter Parking, parking is prohibited on any street, road, or municipal parking lot from Nov. 15 to April 15, 2018 from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m.

Mainers Encouraged to Document and Report Wind-Storm Damage

As the statewide response and recovery effort continues in Maine following a devastating recent wind storm that caused power outages to nearly a half-million electricity customers as well as tree damage, flooding, and property damage, many are asking how to report those damages.

Bag Sale at Bristol Area Library

On Wednesday, Nov. 15 from noon-4 p.m., the Bristol Area Library will have a bag sale. For four hours only, one can fill a bag with books for $5. People should feel free to bring their own bag.

Operation Christmas Child Collection Sites Announced

During the month of November, several locations will serve as drop-off sites for the Samaritan’s Purse project, Operation Christmas Child — joining nearly 5,000 U.S. locations collecting gift-filled shoeboxes for children in need around the world.

Governor Directs Flags to Half-Staff in Respect for Texas Victims

In respect for the victims of the horrific shootings in Sutherland Springs, Texas, which took the lives of more than 25 innocent people while they were attending church, Gov. Paul R. LePage has directed all United States flags and State of Maine flags to be flown at half-staff immediately until sunset, Thursday, Nov. 9.

Y-Arts to Present ‘Fall Back on Broadway’

On Monday, Nov. 13, the Central Lincoln County and Boothbay Region YMCAs’ Y-Arts production of “Fall Back on Broadway” will take place at Lincoln Theater in Damariscotta. Directed and choreographed by arts and humanities director Emily Mirabile and performed by youth in grades one through eight, the show is sure to provide an evening of fun and entertainment with music from “The Lion King,” “Wicked,” and more.

The Newcastle Fire Department, at 86 River Road in Newcastle, will be open from 5-7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3 for those who were not able to get out on Halloween or are choosing to celebrate Halloween on Friday.

CLC Y Community Giving Tree Applications Available

The Central Lincoln County YMCA in Damariscotta is accepting applications for families in need of gifts this holiday season. Applications are now available and can be picked up at the CLC YMCA, local schools, churches, and town offices. The simple, confidential application form should be completed and returned to the CLC Y, located at 525 Main St. in Damariscotta, by Wednesday, Nov. 15.
