Inspection Reveals All Light Fixtures in Whitefield Gymnasium Overheating
Whitefield Elementary School Principal Joshua McNaughton held up a 250 watt metal alloy bulb and a piece of melted wire, taken from a light fixture in the Whitefield Elementary School gymnasium at the RSU 12 Board of Directors meeting Thursday, April 9.
“It’s a miracle the whole place didn’t burn down,” he said.
Nonprofit Plans Senior Community in Damariscotta
A new nonprofit plans to develop a community for seniors at Chapman Farm in Damariscotta.
The community would consist of about a dozen small homes and four cottages for short-term use, as well as an eight-room inn and an art center, café, farm, and tea room.
Inn Along the Way Inc. has an option in place to purchase the property from the grandchildren of the late David Chapman. The current owners and their children represent the eighth and ninth generations of the family to spend time on the farm.

The DNA identification of a man whose remains were found in the basement of Pinkham’s Auto Repair & Tires in Waldoboro after a fire April 24 is underway at the Maine State Police Crime Laboratory and results are not anticipated until April 30 or May 1, according to Department of Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland.
