The Jefferson School Committee is considering a revamp to the athletics program after the shortfalls of the tryout process were called into question during the Tuesday, Sept. 8 committee meeting.

The members of the Pemaquid Watershed Association have agreed that their board of directors made the right call in July when the board decided against merging with four other area conservation organizations.

A Belfast woman on probation was arrested following an alleged altercation with another motorist on Route 1 in Wiscasset the morning of Tuesday, Sept. 15.

The Coast Guard, in partnership with the American Lighthouse Foundation and the Maine Office of Tourism, is inviting the public to visit and tour 23 Maine lighthouses Saturday Sept. 12, during the seventh annual Maine Open Lighthouse Day.

Alcohol is suspected to be a factor in a motor vehicle accident that involved two cars and a motorcycle on Gardiner Road at approximately 2:30 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 5.

Bridget Widmaier has participated in the New York City marathon twice. The first time, in 1995, she stopped during mile 18 and did not cross the finish line. She finished the race the following year, unaware she was two months pregnant at the time. On Nov. 1, she will participate for a third time, this time as a breast cancer survivor.
