The Edgecomb woman who crossed the centerline of Route 1 and caused a head-on, two vehicle accident in Wiscasset on Dec. 31 had been cited two hours earlier for the alleged unlawful use of an inhalant.

For the second time in as many days the National Weather Service issued an advisory for areas surrounding Lincoln County, but not specifically for Lincoln County. And for the second time the forecast degraded until a Winter Weather Advisory was finally issued as cold, sometimes icy, precipitation overspread the area on Saturday morning. The Winter Weather Advisory warns that a mix of precipitation will continue to affect Lincoln County through the early afternoon hours and may cause icy build up on roads and power lines.

On Nov. 26, Deputy Chad Gilbert responded to a report of a theft of a catalytic converter (value: $600) in the Somerville area. The complainant stated that sometime between Nov. 23 and Nov. 26, someone(s) stole the converter from his 1993 Toyota pickup truck. Further investigation to follow if leads develop.

The Alna Board of Selectmen is putting out a call to the community to form a committee to explore a proposal for the Head Tide Dam from the Sheepscot Valley Conservation Association and the Atlantic Salmon Foundation.

Jefferson Road Commissioner Alan Johnston submitted a letter of resignation to the town’s selectmen Dec. 15. He plans to step down from his role effective April 1.

Last week Lincoln Academy installed a new water bubbler in the main hallway, thanks to the efforts of the school’s Climate Action Club, which raised about $1400 to replace the old water fountain.

This time a sloppy combination of snow and sleet followed by rainfall are forecast for nearby areas, causing the NWS to issue a Winter Storm Watch beginning Friday at 9 p.m. Lincoln County is forecast to see a short period of overnight snowfall on Friday that should quickly change over to rainfall, and is not subject to any weather advisories.

Herbert Paris was named the new chair of the Board of Trustees of Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences Dec. 3. Paris assumed the chairmanship from David Coit, who had served as chair for the past six years, and who will remain on the Board.
