Updated – Over 16,000 Outages with ‘Blizzard Like Conditions’ as First Snow Storm Pummels Lincoln County
The National Weather Service issued a Special Weather Statement late Sunday morning warning of “near blizzard conditions” and snowfall rates of one inch an hour as the first snow storm of the season hit Lincoln County. At 4:58 p.m. Central Maine Power reported 16,602 power outages in Lincoln County. The area now remains under a Winter Storm Warning until 10 p.m. on Sunday, according to the NWS.

NWS Extends Winter Storm Warning to 10 p.m. Sunday
At 12:28 p.m. Sunday the National Weather Service issued a bulletin extending the Winter Storm Watch until 10 p.m. on Sunday night. This extension is significant as forecasters are calling for overnight low temps to slide into the mid 20’s, meaning any additional delay in the storm moving out could bring significantly more snowfall to the area.
