Arnie Gamage, of South Bristol, caught a rare tan lobster on Oct. 6 off the South Bristol coastline. “I’ve been fishing for 40 years. I have caught red ones, black ones, and blue ones, but I’ve never seen anything like this,” Gamage said of the rare crustacean.

Power Outages on Increase as High Winds Buffet Lincoln County
Power outages were on the increase in Lincoln County following a night with high winds and heavy rainfall. Power outages increased from 27 to 81 during the overnight hours, with households in six Lincoln County towns affected by the outages. Boothbay and Nobleboro were hardest hit, with 25 households in each town suffering from power outages.

Campaign Signs Defaced With Swastika in Wiscasset
Motorists on Rt. 1 in Wiscasset reported Oct. 14 that a number of campaign signs for U.S. Senator Susan Collins had been vandalized by someone who spray painted a symbol resembling a swastika on them. While the swastika image was painted in reverse, the intent of the vandal was clear, according to observers including Wiscasset Police Chief Troy Cline.

There are very few people living in Wiscasset that didn’t know William J. “Bill” Curtis. He was a man that served his country in the time of war, and a man that served his community until the very end. He completed his last term as selectman in June 2013, at the age of 85.
