The scene of a fire that destroyed two buildings and may have claimed one life has finally been cleared, according to Somerville Fire Chief Mike Dostie.
State Budget Maneuvers Impact Local School Budget
The Nobleboro School Committee presented a proposal to the Nobleboro Budget Committee, Jan 21, that would increase the local budget by 5.35 percent, if it gains voter approval. That presentation was prefaced by a statement from school committee chairman Joshua Hatch outlining the effects of the governor’s Dec. 27, 2012 curtailment order that is projected to reduce the current year’s overall state budget by $35.5 million.
RSU 12 Hires New Superintendent
The Board of Directors of RSU 12 has announced the hiring of Howard Tuttle as its next superintendent. Beginning a two year contract, Tuttle assumes his duties with the RSU 12 effective July 1.

Power Restored to Lincoln County Households
Power has been restored to 615 Lincoln County households that were without power during the height of an afternoon windstorm on Thursday, according to John Carroll, the spokesperson for Central Maine Power (CMP). The storm brought sustained winds at 25 to 25 mph with gusts up to 50 mph, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
