A number of animals seized from Robert “Cisco” Barnes’ Whitefield farm earlier this month have found homes, according to Carrie Koskela of the Lincoln County Animal Shelter.

Waldoboro Hires Police Detective
A new police detective is expected to begin work in Waldoboro Monday, Feb. 4.
Waldoboro citizens approved the detective position in 2008 and Lance Mitchell began work in January 2009.

Over 600 Power Outages as High Winds Buffet LC
A total of 615 Lincoln County households are without power at the time of this posting as high winds blasting through the area are knocking down tree limbs and power lines. The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Wind Advisory warning of sustained winds at 25 to 25 mph with gusts up to 50 mph. The Wind Advisory is in effect until 5 p.m. on Thursday.

Higher Snowfall Totals Now Forecast for Thurs. Storm, Evening Commute May Still See Mix
The latest National Weather Service (NWS) advisory (11:32 a.m.) has upgraded the snowfall totals for Lincoln County regarding a weather front that has been dumping heavy, wet snowflakes on the area since early Thursday morning. Snowfall accumulation is now forecast at 8 to 12 inches for the entire area with possible exceptions for extreme coastal areas and the tips of south facing peninsulas where the snow may mix with rain, according to the NWS.
Bristol Fire Victim’s Cause Of Death Released
The 69-year-old Bristol woman who was the victim of a Dec. 9 fire in her garage died of “thermal burns and associated severe coronary atherosclerosis.”

Darren B. Maxcy, 42, of Bristol, is at Maine Medical Center after sustaining injuries in a single-vehicle accident on Route 1 in Newcastle Dec. 22.
Palermo’s RSU 12 Withdrawal Vote Apparently Invalid
