NWS Warns of Snow Slick Roads Through Thurs. Morning
The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a somewhat tardy Winter Weather Advisory late Wednesday night forecasting continued snowfall through Thursday morning. Also issued was a Special Weather Statement that warns of dangerous travel conditions due to snow-covered roads that should continue through the morning commute.

The Bremen Board of Selectmen is calling for residents who would like to serve on the town’s Shellfish Committee to step forward.
Wiscasset Voters Approve Municipal Planning Budget
In a special town meeting Dec.7, Wiscasset voters approved a revamped budget for the municipal planning department. By a vote of 186-76, voters appropriated $29,576.20 toward the department for the last six months of the fiscal year, effectively reducing the hours of the town planner from the current 40 hours a week to 30.

Cottage Gardens Open After Vandalism
Cottage Gardens, the Church Street florist, greenhouse and nursery, is open after suffering extensive damage at the hands of a vandal or vandals during the night of Dec. 10-11. The vandal(s) wrote anti-Semitic slurs and damaged electronic equipment, display cases and merchandise.
Montsweag Dam Removal Complete
The Chewonki Foundation has successfully completed Phase Two of the Montsweag Brook Restoration Project. Primary goals of the project are to restore riparian habitat and re-establish fish passage in lower Montsweag Brook in Wiscasset and Woolwich. The project is designed to benefit target fish species including alewives, sea-run brook trout, and American eel.

In an emotional and tense meeting at the Edgecomb Eddy School Dec. 15, members of the urgently reconvened Midcoast Bypass Taskforce voted to continue working with the Maine Dept. of Transportation to find a practical plan for a Wiscasset bypass.
Charges Pending In Whitefield Snowmobile Accident
A snowmobiler who went through a small patch of ice off Rt. 126 in Whitefield on Dec. 8 may be charged for operating while intoxicated and operating an unregistered snowmobile, according to Warden Steve Allarie with the Warden’s Service.
Maine’s First Fire Marshal Commemorated
Dozens of firefighters and fire service officials from around the state joined friends and family to remember Don Bisset, Maine’s first Fire Marshal, at his funeral on Dec. 4 at Waldoboro First Baptist Church.
