Lincoln County Planner Bob Faunce led a discussion on Gateway 1 at a meeting of the Constitutionalists of Maine in Waldoboro, Feb. 21. The meeting served as a follow-up to a similar Feb. 7 meeting, during which Faunce addressed the group’s concerns about planning, land rights and economic development.

Local firefighters responded to a late afternoon structure fire Feb. 11 at 9 Lord Rd. in Westport Island. According to an official at the scene who requested anonymity, the fire is believed to have started in a bedroom area of the house.

After members of the Bremen budget committee criticized Bremen Selectman Patrick Ginnaty for what they alleged was a shirking of his duties, Ginnaty has announced his intention to resign from the Bremen Board of Selectmen after more than three years on the board.

The Bristol Board of Selectmen meeting scheduled for this evening is postponed until Thurs., Feb. 3 at 7 p.m. in the Bristol Town Office.

Winslow ended Medomak Valley’s bid for the State title, defeating the Panthers 64-58 in an East B Regional Quarter Final at the Bangor Auditorium Feb. 19.

Cainin Griffin is an eighth grader in the Wiscasset Middle School.

Two days before Thanksgiving, Griffin was diagnosed with Burkitt’s Leukemia, a rare and aggressive form of cancer.
