The Newcastle Board of Selectmen will meet Thurs., Dec. 30 at 7 p.m. at the Newcastle Town Office in order to make up a Dec. 27 meeting cancelled due to the Dec. 26-27 blizzard.

All Post Offices nationwide will be open New Year’s Eve, Fri., Dec. 31, but most will have shortened retail lobby hours and close at noon. Mail delivery for Dec. 31 is not affected by the change.

When Somerville fire fighters arrived at their new fire station in the morning on Dec. 18, they discovered that the generator they use to power the furnace in the building had been stolen.
