A snowmobiler who went through a small patch of ice off Rt. 126 in Whitefield on Dec. 8 may be charged for operating while intoxicated and operating an unregistered snowmobile, according to Warden Steve Allarie with the Warden’s Service.

Newcastle ‘Strenuously Objects’ To Alternate Bypass Routes
The Newcastle Board of Selectmen, by a 5-0 vote, agreed to sign a letter stating their firm opposition to any alternate to the recently abandoned N8c route for a Rt. 1 bypass around Wiscasset.
Most Post Offices Closing Early On New Year’s Eve
All Post Offices nationwide will be open New Year’s Eve, Fri., Dec. 31, but most will have shortened retail lobby hours and close at noon. Mail delivery for Dec. 31 is not affected by the change.
Revised hours will be posted at each Post Office and commercial customers are asked to check with their Business Mail Entry Unit for Dec. 31 hours of operation.
