The National Weather Service (NWS) is lifting a Blizzard Warning earlier than first anticipated – 3 p.m. as opposed to 5 p.m. – as snowfall tracks east out to the Atlantic. However, visibility will occasionally diminish and travel remain dangerous as high winds linger in the area blowing and drifting fresh snowfall through the evening hours, according to the NWS.

Citing racial intolerance and an unsafe environment for their children, educators and tribal leaders from the Pleasant Point reservation have canceled a planned trip to Wiscasset High School Dec. 10. The decision comes in response to comments made during a Nov. 15 Wiscasset committee meeting to examine the school’s continued use of the term and symbol “Redskin.”
Missing Friendship Woman Found Murdered, Rockland Man Charged
A Rockland man is charged with murder in connection with the death of a Friendship woman, Katrina Windred, 47, found alongside a dirt road in Rockland Nov. 27.

Breaking News – Firefighters Contain Dryer Fire In Nobleboro
Firefighters cleared the scene of a house fire at 418 Center St. in Nobleboro today around 10:30 a.m. The Nobleboro Fire Department responded with mutual aid support from Damariscotta and Newcastle shortly after 9 a.m. Center Street was briefly closed while firefighters contained the blaze.

Eagle’s Nest Alters Wiscasset Bypass Plans
Following the discovery of an undocumented eagle’s nest along the previously approved corridor for the proposed Wiscasset Bypass, the US Army Corp of Engineers (ACOE) has informed the Maine Dept. of Transportation (DOT) that the proposed route is no longer acceptable.
