Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens Boldly Looks To A Green Future
In 2009, Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, already hailed as one of Maine’s top attractions, welcomed nearly 60,000 visitors. Those numbers will only increase with the July 8 opening of the Bibby and Harold Alfond Children’s Garden. The organization continues to win awards for its designs, as well as for its innovative management; but Maine’s first and only botanical garden isn’t about to rest on its laurels. Now, the gardens is embarking on a new, and very green, building project for its much-needed education center.

Alna Sand And Salt Shed Issue Dropped
Alna selectmen decided not to pursue getting $10,000 back from a local contractor whose work on the town’s sand and salt shed foundation caused them to issue a stop work order and find another contractor to complete the job last summer.
Coastal Trans Ordered To Inspect Vehicles
Drivers for Coastal Transportation have been ordered to inspect their vehicles in the wake of a recent incident where a wheel fell off one of their small busses.
The order was issued by the Maine Dept. of Transportation after inspectors reported the accident was triggered when the lug nuts fell off, according to a spokesman, Mark Latti.
