Haitian Refugee Fund-Raising Dinner Set For Friday
Friday’s fundraising dinner at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Newcastle will help a group of Haitian refugees in the village of Gros-Morne that have fled from the devastation created by the Jan. 12 earthquake which flattened buildings and took the lives of more than a hundred thousand victims.
Weather Update — NWS: Midcoast to See Most Snowfall Today, Only Several Inches in Forecast
The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued an advisory regarding a steady but light snowfall that began Wednesday morning in Lincoln County and other midcoast areas. While much of the state will see only a dusting, this snowfall seems centered right on the midcoast, and may leave 1-3 inches of accumulation, with peninsulas getting the lion’s share, according to the NWS. No high winds or extraordinarily heavy snowfall is forecast for this event, and there have been no school or business closings or cancellations.

Edgecomb Submits Support Of Bypass Route
In a two-to-one split during their Monday night meeting, the Edgecomb Board of Selectmen agreed to send a letter of support for a Wiscasset bypass route to the Army Corps of Engineers (ACOE). The board also discussed the upcoming municipal budget process, as well as a proposal by residents for the town to have a five member board of selectmen.

Overnight Storm Threatens CMP Goal to Complete Power Restoration by Mon. Night
Central Maine Power Company (CMP) President Sara Burns stated Sun. the utility has set a goal to complete power restoration from last week’s storm by late Monday evening. She cautioned, however, that forecasts for inclement weather are challenging crews. A Winter Storm Warning issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) calls for more wind and snowfall to visit Lincoln County beginning Sun. evening and continue into Mon. morning. Total snowfall accumulation for this storm is presently forecast at 6-8 inches, according to the NWS, which also warns of northerly winds gusting to 35 mph.
