With the upcoming holiday season, the Damariscotta Police Department would like to remind citizens of the importance of having designated drivers and wearing seatbelts.

A former Newcastle resident, convicted of slaying his father and a former girlfriend, asked the Maine Supreme Judicial Court Monday to grant him a new trial.

On Nov. 1, Deputy Mark Bridgham took a report of criminal mischief and theft in the Bremen area. The complainant stated that someone damaged and moved a gas tank at the Muscongus Community Center. The cost of the tank is around $150 dollars and the liquid propane is valued at $350 dollars. The monetary damage to the pipes and the reset of the tank is to be determined. Further investigation if leads develop.
