Join Knox-Lincoln Soil & Water Conservation District and Heather McCargo, founder and director of the Wild Seed Project, for a late spring wildflower and native plant walk on Thursday, May 31 from 10-11:30 a.m. through the woods along the Goose River in Camden. The trail begins at the river’s headwaters, winding through hemlock and beech, gradually transitioning to a woodland dominated by oak and pine with an understory of common witch hazel, maple leaf viburnum, and hobblebush.

Spring Fest and Baby Goats at Pumpkin Vine Family Farm
Pumpkin Vine Family Farm in Somerville is bursting with new life, and people are invited to join in as the farm kicks off its market season on Sunday, May 27 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. with a celebration of spring. For those who haven’t had a chance to hug a baby goat yet, there is more than enough loving energy to go around. The farm has 16 kids so far, and is only halfway through kidding!
‘Before the Flood’ at GSB
The GSB Environmental Club will be hosting the film “Before the Flood” at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 20 in the gymnasium of Great Salt Bay Community School, 559 Main St., Damariscotta. It will be followed by an open discussion. Admission is free and there will be free refreshments. Donations will be gratefully accepted.

The Waldoboro Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony will take place Monday, May 28, rain or shine, beginning promptly at 9 a.m., with the parade lineup at 8 a.m. at the Waldoboro town municipal parking lot.
Coastal Christian School Benefit Auction
On Saturday, May 26 at 2 p.m., Coastal Christian School in Waldoboro will hold a benefit auction to raise funds to complete its gymnasium/theater. The auction will be held on the grounds of Chat & Chow Takeout in Warren, at the junction of Route 1 and Route 90. The rain date will be Monday, May 28.

Free Giant Pumpkin Plants on Seedling Sunday
On Sunday, May 20, Seedling Sunday will officially kick off as part of the the 2018 Damariscotta Pumpkinfest & Regatta. On Seedling Sunday, volunteer-growers can adopt the 600 10-day-old Atlantic Giant pumpkin seedlings and grow pumpkins that will become the granddaddies of the pumpkin patch.
Basic Map and Compass Navigation with DRA
Anyone venturing into the woods can benefit from learning to navigate comfortably with a map and compass. On Saturday, April 28, Damariscotta River Association will offer a workshop on basic map and compass navigation and skills for “staying found,” as opposed to getting lost. Participants will learn how to read a USCGS topographical map and how to use a handheld compass. In addition, the class will cover declination, and how to obtain a bearing from the map and convert it to magnetic from true north.
DaPonte to Host Free Weekend-Long Quartet Workshop
The DaPonte String Quartet is accepting applications to its annual three-day quartet workshop for high school string players at Camp Kieve’s Wavus campus in Jefferson in September.

Kick off yard sale season at the Central Lincoln County YMCA in Damariscotta! The Lincoln County Publishing Co. is teaming up with the Y to host the Lincoln County Yard Sale, a huge indoor yard sale, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 5. Admission is free.

Midcoast Conservancy to Host Youth Fishing Event
On Saturday, June 9 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Midcoast Conservancy will host its annual Hooked on Fishing event, where kids get out on the water and experience the fun of fishing. Children of all experience levels are welcome; each child get an hour of fishing in prime fishing spots on Damariscotta Lake with experienced volunteer boaters as their personal guides. Mentors will be onshore to assist young anglers with equipment and to answer their questions about fishing.
