Sourdough Bread-Making Class at FARMS
Members of the public are invited to join retired teacher and home baker Bill Babb as he shares his passion for baking sourdough bread. Attendees at his upcoming class on Saturday, Dec. 16 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. will learn how to care for a sourdough starter, how to knead using two different techniques, and how to mix, shape, and slice bread for baking.
Benefit Supper for Hearty Roots
A benefit supper for Bristol-based Hearty Roots featuring wood-fired pizzas and supporting woods-bound local youth will take place Tuesday, Nov. 21 from 5-9 p.m. at Flatbread Company, 399 Commercial St., Rockport.
CLC YMCA Dog Obedience Classes
Obedience training doesn’t solve all behavioral problems, but it is the foundation for solving just about any problem. Training opens up a line of communication between a person and his or her dog. Effective communication is necessary to instruct the dog. A dog can be taught anything from “wait” (stay inside the house/truck/yard even if the door is open) to “sit” (while other dogs pass by) to “off” (keep all four feet on the floor when visitors arrive).
Nov. 22 Pie Sale in Waldoboro
People are encouraged to come and get their favorite pie – apple, pumpkin, and so on — for the Thanksgiving holiday at the Waldoboro Public Library, at 958 Main St. in Waldoboro, on Wednesday, Nov. 22, from 10 a.m. until pies are sold out.
Season’s Last Historical Society Meeting
The Damariscotta Historical Society will hold its last meeting of 2017 on Monday, Nov. 20 at the Damariscotta town hall meeting room on School Street. The meeting will start at 7 p.m. The program will be presented by Mark Biscoe, local marine historian, of Brunswick, formerly of Waldoboro.
Boothbay Region Lights Up With Festival of Lights
The second annual Boothbay Festival of Lights will kick off on Friday, Nov. 17 with a sparkling series of events. The Festival of Lights is a celebration of signature holiday events in Midcoast Maine’s quintessential seaside towns of Boothbay and Boothbay Harbor. The towns sparkle with thousands of lights and the shops, restaurants, and hotels are open and ready to help visitors create wonderful holiday memories.
Big Pie Sale in Jefferson

Postponed Haiti Benefit Dinner to Take Place Nov. 10
One of the casualties of last week’s storm in Lincoln County was the annual Haiti Benefit Dinner. Power was not restored to St Patrick’s Catholic Church in Newcastle in time to hold the dinner on Nov. 3 as originally scheduled. The dinner has been postponed for one week and will now take place on Friday, Nov. 10 at 6 p.m. at St Patrick’s Catholic Church, 380 Academy Hill Road, Newcastle.
