Clamshell Quilters Meeting
Clamshell Quilters will meet at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 11 at Faith Baptist Church, 144 Mills Road, Newcastle. Host Judy Sala will show attendees how to make a fabric bowl out of clothesline and fabric strips. She predicts everyone should go home with a completed project.
Baked Bean Supper in Newcastle
On Saturday, Sept. 9 from 5-7 p.m., Sheepscott Community Church will host a public baked bean supper at the Sheepscot Clubhouse, 619 Sheepscot Road, Newcastle. Featured will be homemade baked beans and breads, franks, and a variety of salads and sides, pies, and beverages. There will be both inside and outside seating, weather permitting.
J.P. Fisher Memorial Concert Planned
All are welcome as friends and fans of the late John “J.P.” Fisher are expected to gather in New Harbor on Saturday, Sept. 9 to celebrate the life and spirit of the one-time Pemaquid resident at the J.P. Fisher Memorial Concert.
PWA to Paddle to Hungry Island

South Bristol Historical Society Hosts Trivia Night at Coveside
The South Bristol Historical Society will host its first Trivia Night at Coveside Marina & Restaurant, at 105 Coveside Road, Rutherford Island (South Bristol), on Thursday, Sept. 14 at 6:30 p.m. People are encouraged to come and show off their knowledge of South Bristol while they enjoy food and drink.
Salty Dogs at Bands for Books
The musical group Salty Dogs will be featured at this year’s Bands for Books event on Sunday, Sept. 3 from 5-7 p.m. at picturesque Seafield Farm in Wiscasset, owned by Wiscasset Selectman Katharine Martin-Savage. It will be the fourth year the Friends of the Wiscasset Public Library group has held such an event, whose purpose is to raise money for projects such as painting, carpeting, and lighting to keep the historic Wiscasset Public Library building in good shape.
Sunday Paddle on Labor Day Weekend
A leisurely canoe/kayak paddle on Crystal Lake in Washington is coming up on Sunday, Sept. 3 starting at 9 a.m., sponsored by Medomak Valley Land Trust and Washington Lakes Watershed Association. Environmental educator and Maine Guide Rob Stenger will lead the paddle around this little gem of a lake. It will be this small lake’s first public paddle this year.

Monarch Butterfly Program at Pemaquid Beach Park
From 10:30 a.m. to noon on Thursday, Aug. 24, teacher-naturalist Fran Ludwig will share her knowledge about the life cycle of the monarch butterfly. During this Beachcombers’ Rest Nature Center workshop, participants will learn how to raise a monarch from an egg and feed it before bidding it “adios” as it journeys to Mexico.
