Benefit Supper to Help Rebuild Bailey Home
A community potluck benefit supper will be held Saturday, Feb. 11, from 5-7 p.m., to help rebuild the home of Merrill and Shirley Bailey, which was destroyed by fire. The benefit supper, organized by the First Baptist Church of Nobleboro, will be held in the gymnasium of Nobleboro Central School, 194 Center St., Nobleboro.

The Damariscotta River Association is celebrating Great Maine Outdoor Weekend and invites the public to come enjoy a variety of winter activities on Sunday, Feb. 5 at the fourth annual Winter Fest.
SBHS Miles Presentation Rescheduled
The South Bristol Historical Society’s presentation on Samuel A. Miles by SBHS member Stan Wells has been rescheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 8 at 7 p.m. at the Rutherford Library, 2000 Route 129, South Bristol.
Wild & Scenic Film Festival in Damariscotta
The Wild & Scenic Film Festival comes to Damariscotta on Tuesday and Thursday, Feb. 7 and 9. It is being brought to the big screen at Lincoln Theater by the Damariscotta River Association. A different collection of short films will be shown each night from 7-9 p.m.
DRA Offers Midcoast Stewards Program
For those with a passion for conservation, the Damariscotta River Association is offering a unique overview of natural-resource topics and stewardship-related activities along the Midcoast of Maine. Coordinated by the DRA and maintained through partnerships with many area conservation organizations and state agencies, the Midcoast Stewards program offers participants the opportunity to learn about natural and cultural history from a number of professionals in natural-resource management fields, as well as an invitation to serve local conservation organizations as a volunteer.
Peacefully Gathering in Damariscotta
For those of us that have become tired from the constant negative and anxiety-driven social-media posts, the Damariscotta Baptist Church, located at 4 Bristol Road in Damariscotta, is hosting a peaceful celebration from 5-8 p.m., Friday, Jan. 20.
Crown Vics to Rock The Opera House
The thousands of holiday lights have been packed up and stowed away for another year, but on Saturday, Jan. 28, the historic Opera House at Boothbay Harbor will pulse back to life for the 2017 season with the rockin’ sound of The Crown Vics. While the night will be a concert for some audience members, for others it will be a winter’s evening to get out on the dance floor and tear it up.
Public Benefit Supper
The Wells-Hussey American Legion Auxiliary on Upper Main Street in Damariscotta will hold a public benefit supper with live music at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 27. The supper will benefit Jody Grindle Pickett. Following the supper, Larry Sidelinger and his group will play music from 7-10 p.m. for dancing and relaxing.
Wild and Scenic Film Festival Celebrates Environment
The Damariscotta River Association will host the touring Wild and Scenic Film Festival at Lincoln Theater in Damariscotta on Tuesday and Thursday, Feb. 7 and 9. The event will run from 7-9 p.m. both evenings.
Owl Prowl, Full-Moon Hike at HVNC
Many owls, especially some of the common owls in Maine, actually breed in the middle of winter, so now is prime time to go on an owl prowl. A full moon makes it even better.
Waldoboro Community Luncheons
Community luncheons co-sponsored by Waldoboro United Methodist Church and Broad Bay Congregational Church will be held from noon-1 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 19 and Thursday, Feb. 16 at Broad Bay Congregational Church, 941 Main St., Waldoboro.
St. Giles’ Episcopal Church Free Supper
St. Giles’ Episcopal Church, located at 72 Gardiner Road/Route 126 in Jefferson, will host the first of its free 2017 wintertime suppers for Midcoast Maine residents at 5 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 14.
