Helen Deering Piper, 94, of Damariscotta, died June 24. She was born in Bangor on April 30, 1922 to Arthur and Freda (Bowman) Deering. After Freda’s death in 1924, she and her siblings were raised by her father and stepmother, Crystal (Bowman).

Joanne Thayer Walker, 84, of Wolfeboro, N.H., passed away peacefully June 25 at her home she shared with her niece, Maryanne Ritchie-Porter. Joanne was born Dec. 16, 1931, in Melrose, Mass. to the late Bigelow and Elizabeth (Smith) Hersey. Joanne attended Melrose High School and also graduated Class of ’53 Salutatorian of Wheelock College, Boston, with a BS in Education. Joanne worked for the Governor Wentworth Regional School District for 28 years, as a Kindergarten teacher at Carpenter School, Wolfeboro, N.H., Alton School District for two years and, later, at the New Durham Elementary School for 21 years. New Durham Elementary School Parents and Teachers Organization dedicated the Joanne T. Walker Playground to her when she retired.

Alice Irene Dodge, 92, of New Harbor, passed away on the morning of June 21 at Cove’s Edge in Damariscotta. Born on June 13, 1924 in Everett, Mass., she was the daughter of the late John and Lilly (LaCasha) Bagnera Sr.

Kathleen “Kay” S. (Donovan) Dale, 99, of Jefferson, died a peaceful, serene and beautiful death on June 25. She was surrounded by her four loving children while reciting poetry with a smile on her face right until the end.

Peter Wayne Davis, 74, of Boothbay, passed away unexpectedly June 23 at his home. He was born on Jan. 25, 1942, in Fitchburg, Mass., the son of Leighton and Helen (Adams) Davis.

Helen M. La Rocque, 96, passed away on the evening of June 25 at Chase Point in Damariscotta. A long-time resident of Newcastle, and later Damariscotta, she was just a few months away from her 97th birthday. She had been a resident of Chase Point Assisted Living since 2012.

Walter Wayne Hilton, 67, passed away unexpectedly on June 20. Born in Damariscotta on June 28, 1948, he was the son of Irma McLoon and John Hilton.

Graydon J. Fowles, 86, of Merrimack, N.H., died at Villa Crest Nursing and Retirement Center on June 21 with family at his side following an illness. He was born in Gardiner on Nov. 2, 1929, the son of Dexter R. Fowles Sr. and Ruth Jackson Fowles. He was brought up in Wiscasset by his aunt and uncle, Harriet C. Jackson and John F. Jackson.

Sharon L. Robinson died unexpectedly on June 16. She was born Sept. 25, 1948 in Friendship to Charles Stenger and Gladys (Burns) Fullerton.
