Public hearings to be held on Comprehensive Land Use Plan
The Land Use Regulation Commission (LURC) has scheduled three public hearings regarding its proposed Comprehensive Land Use Plan.
Violent Behavior Is Never Acceptable
Domestic violence educators often talk about the importance of the community’s response as a critical and valuable tool to help end intimate partner violence. Collective voices stating clearly, “Violent behavior in a relationship is never acceptable,” is not only the right action, it is a necessary one.
Forced To Go Back To The Radio
I hope more citizens are having better luck than we are with the new digital TV antenna system. I also wonder how our seniors are faring with this problem.
Join The Effort And Make A Difference
On behalf of Damariscotta’s Board of Selectmen, it is my pleasure to welcome our recently elected selectman, David Atwater, to the Board. As many in the community know, David has well served our town as the Damariscotta Planning Advisory Committee (DPAC) Chairman for the past two years. As DPAC’s first Chairman, he was instrumental in laying the groundwork for the Committee and its early successes.

Natural Beauty Is Hard To Restore
I was interested to read about the temporary windmills possibly being placed around Damariscove and Monhegan.
Careful What We Wish For
Nationalizing health care has another significant element, not often noted. The new Socialist government in Britain in 1945 lost no time in nationalizing coal, steel, transport, freight, education and health. After hovering near bankruptcy for years all those mistakes were unscrambled with one exception – health.
CAN’T WE ALL JUST AGREE?
Healthcare seems to be the topic of the day.
In the news, in Internet chat rooms and local coffee shops, it seems everybody is talking about it, worrying about it, or fighting over it. Well, not so much fighting over it. Fighting about fighting about it is more like it.
Let’s Build It Now

A Bob Reny Story
Back in 1989, Diane and I moved to Damariscotta from Florida during the coldest and snowiest December Maine had experienced in years.
Before Spending $100 Million
Beginning in early July, the Dept. of Transportation Wiscasset Traffic monitors have been in operation and they generate a lot of data.
