Recently, I listened to an out of state pastor relate his troubles in getting his church built “according to code” for his district.

This is written in response to the Dec. 25 Letter to the Editor (and the Jan. 1 correction to it) suggesting that gay marriage is wrong because the Bible says so.

With all the economic woes, the people of Waldoboro have been amazing once again. As always I am impressed with how generous you all were. This year we had a few more families and children that needed our help. This year’s Waldoboro Toy Program went very well, with a lot of help from you. As always, I feel very privileged to be part of such a wonderful and generous event.

Many who live in the Damariscotta region may not fully realize how fortunate we are to have a first class hospital right here to serve our medical needs. A hospital is only as good as its medical, nursing, ancillary and administrative staffs and the Miles staff is as good as they come. Recently I experienced Miles as an inpatient, and while a hospital stay is not necessarily a matter of choice, I was most impressed with my experience.

The following is general background information regarding the school district reorganization, as well as some frequently asked questions.

I read with great interest Douglas Wright’s article entitled “All Creatures Great and Small” in the January 1st edition of your paper.

I hope that the State Legislature will do the right thing again and vote in opposition to the adoption of a saltwater fishing license. As a life long resident of the State of Maine I have enjoyed the liberty of being able to salt water fish free of charge. This is one of the last recreational activities we can enjoy at no cost and I view it as being a benefit of living in this great State.

It has been over two months since our lives suddenly changed and my husband found himself in the worst of circumstances: a freak accident that every carpenter dreads happened with a table saw after more 40 years of experience. His left hand was mangled and fingers were severed.

Tuesday, Jan. 27 is a crucial day for the future of our local schools. On that day, the 11 towns in the proposed Central Lincoln County School System (CLCSS) will open the polls for the state-mandated vote on consolidation.

Once again, it’s Palestine versus Israel, or shall we say Islam vs. Judaism.

The fire chief’s horse/truck collision in nearby Edgecomb, brought back a sad memory, with lessons I learned, and hope I can relay to as many drivers as possible.

Concerning the classification of Mr. Goldenson’s property in Bremen in last week’s paper I say ‘caveat emptor’.

Mr. Goldenson’s property – formally of a maritime use (remember Zahn) is bordered on both southern and northern sides by – surprise – maritime use. Didn’t he see the mud flats when he bought it?
