The generosity extended to the Lincoln Academy Class of 2012 is remarkable. On Monday evening, dozens of scholarships were handed out to a range of graduating seniors, as well as some former graduates that are continuing their education.

We are actually excited to see how the votes come in June 12. Next week three towns convene their annual town meetings and we have enough intriguing primary contests on the ballot to make your average political junky’s mouth water.

I have been a Damariscotta cemetery trustee for the last 15 years. This volunteer position has been a very rewarding experience, knowing that keeping our cemeteries in excellent condition is one of basic examples of the integrity of our community.

I was dismayed to read Lucille Craib’s letter and Eleanor Cade Busby’s essay about The Lincoln Community Theater. The underlying discontent and hurt feelings came through clearly.

Recently yet another coffin nail was pounded firmly, and with feigned politeness, into our beloved Lincoln County Community Theater. This is said with emphasis on the word “Community.”

By the time most of you receive this latest edition of The Lincoln County News, temperatures are expected to be topping out in the 90s. According to reports, it’s supposed to hot and muggy for the next few days.

A major heart attack, quadruple bypass and 4 months later and I’m almost back to normal. Not only did I change my diet and start exercising more, I’ve changed my thinking, too. This experience has taught me that I can lean on family and friends and be okay with it and not to stress the small stuff.

As someone who doesn’t naturally gravitate toward “nature walks” and is somewhat embarrassed to walk among a crowd of “bird weenies” with their binoculars all pointing in the same direction, up a tree, I was persuaded to go on a “Bog Walk” last Thursday at Hidden Valley Nature Center in Jefferson.
