It is hard work being a volunteer. It means lots of hours, lots of legwork, lots of preparation before the folks come and lots of breaking down after they leave.

As I prepare to participate in the annual Memorial Day parade, my thoughts are with the American sailors and soldiers who gave their lives for our democracy.

On behalf of the 1970 MVHS Class B Boys State Championship baseball team, we would like to express our thanks to Matt Lash, Athletic Director, for the recent recognition ceremony at Medomak Valley’s baseball field.

To the Editor:

Waldoboro recently applied for and was awarded a grant from the ConnectME Authority to expand Broadband Internet service to areas of the town where this service is unavailable. The town will collaborate with Midcoast Internet Solutions on the project.

I’m writing to congratulate all the folks of Lincoln County who voted for Paul LePage in the primary for governor. It demonstrated their courage, conviction and concern for our state.

As a citizen of New Harbor, I happened to be on the parade grounds of Fort William Henry at Colonial Pemaquid for the season’s opening event, a sprightly Pipes and Drums Concert, which the crowd of over 300 and I enjoyed immensely.

I would like to thank the citizens of Wiscasset for their votes. I especially thank those who took the time to write letters to the editor on my behalf. I was genuinely surprised at the number of votes received.

Remember the old true and false questions? If any part of the question is false, the answer is false.

We like the way James Doughty is going about trying to establish a wolf-dog hybrid reserve in Bristol.

He has been up front with his neighbors. He has been straightforward with the town. He has promised to take extra security measures to secure his charges and protect the public and he has answered sometimes hostile questions. At the very least, he is sensitive to the local concerns.

To the Editor:

I have found out that I was wrong about the Bristol school budget in my letter in last week’s paper.

If the oil industry in this country were under the same degree of regulations and policing as the Commercial Fishing Industry here in Maine, the disaster in the Gulf would have never happened. Maine fishermen are regulated, to the point of being just plain stupid.
