To the Editor:

As a citizen of New Harbor, I happened to be on the parade grounds of Fort William Henry at Colonial Pemaquid for the season’s opening event, a sprightly Pipes and Drums Concert, which the crowd of over 300 and I enjoyed immensely.

I would like to thank the citizens of Wiscasset for their votes. I especially thank those who took the time to write letters to the editor on my behalf. I was genuinely surprised at the number of votes received.

Remember the old true and false questions? If any part of the question is false, the answer is false.

We like the way James Doughty is going about trying to establish a wolf-dog hybrid reserve in Bristol.

He has been up front with his neighbors. He has been straightforward with the town. He has promised to take extra security measures to secure his charges and protect the public and he has answered sometimes hostile questions. At the very least, he is sensitive to the local concerns.

I have found out that I was wrong about the Bristol school budget in my letter in last week’s paper.

If the oil industry in this country were under the same degree of regulations and policing as the Commercial Fishing Industry here in Maine, the disaster in the Gulf would have never happened. Maine fishermen are regulated, to the point of being just plain stupid.

I support Les Otten for governor. Let me explain why.

As the Damariscotta Health Officer I would like to respond to some concerns that have been raised regarding the addition of fluoride to our town water.

In tough economic times, people need and use libraries and their free services more than ever.

For a state with citizens screaming for tax reform, our legislators seem to be making precious little progress overhauling the tax code.

There is only one candidate in either party who has actually run a “real” business, and has succeeded in the executive branch of government.

I was talking to a friend at a convenience store last week. She asked me what I had been up to. “Besides working to pay my taxes,” I said, “I’ve been involved with the “Yes on 1″ campaign.”

To the Editor:

On June 8, we who live in Waldoboro have a chance to reaffirm our public library’s importance by voting for town funding.

On June 8, Maine people will be asked to repeal the recently enacted, “so-called’ tax reform.
