We are expecting a loud Fourth of July.
Ever since the state legalized fireworks, would be celebrants and First Responders alike have had July 4 this year penciled in on their calendars. Independence Day is obviously the fireworks day of the year.
What Are They Afraid Of?
Do you suppose they fear the real numbers will prove them wrong?
Hard To See A Beloved Institution Change
I was dismayed to read Lucille Craib’s letter and Eleanor Cade Busby’s essay about The Lincoln Community Theater. The underlying discontent and hurt feelings came through clearly.
Yet Another Coffin Nail
Recently yet another coffin nail was pounded firmly, and with feigned politeness, into our beloved Lincoln County Community Theater. This is said with emphasis on the word “Community.”
IT’S THAT TIME
By the time most of you receive this latest edition of The Lincoln County News, temperatures are expected to be topping out in the 90s. According to reports, it’s supposed to hot and muggy for the next few days.
A Life Changing Experience
A major heart attack, quadruple bypass and 4 months later and I’m almost back to normal. Not only did I change my diet and start exercising more, I’ve changed my thinking, too. This experience has taught me that I can lean on family and friends and be okay with it and not to stress the small stuff.
Hidden Valley Wonder Center
As someone who doesn’t naturally gravitate toward “nature walks” and is somewhat embarrassed to walk among a crowd of “bird weenies” with their binoculars all pointing in the same direction, up a tree, I was persuaded to go on a “Bog Walk” last Thursday at Hidden Valley Nature Center in Jefferson.
ONWARD
We are not surprised Wiscasset and Westport Island voted to formally begin the withdrawal process from RSU 12.
Sure Appreciate The Participation
This is to all the generous customers who donated food during this year’s “Help Stamp Out Hunger” Food Drive.
Traffic Circle Fantasy
Newcastle curmudgeon, postulated that a traffic circle where Academy Rd. and Rt. 215 meet Bus. Rt. 1 is a bad idea. I disagree.
Cannot Support RSU 12
I cannot support RSU 12. I do not like to just pay and have no say. It seems like the RSU thinks we all have the capacity to pay more taxes. Well, we do not have the capacity to pay more taxes!
LOVE YOUR MOTHER
There’s an old story that relates the tale of a young mother who was preparing to roast a ham.
PUBLIC SERVICE
In public service, much like parenthood, real progress is made by doing the little things; showing up on time; paying attention to the details. In practice it comes down to hard work rather than applied philosophy.
Concerned About Toxic Chemicals
As a mother and physician in this community, I am concerned about toxic chemicals in our environment and their link to chronic disease. I would very much like to thank our state senators for all the hard work they do representing supporting strong public health laws in Maine, such as the Kid Safe Products Act and the phase out of BPA.
