If your reporter John Maguire correctly quoted Lincoln County Commissioner Lynn Orne in a story about a Southport suicide, Ms. Orne needs some education.
Should Consider The Need To Do More, Not Less
No case is harder to accept than the homicide of an innocent child killed at the hands of an adult caregiver. Unfortunately today there are simply too many of these cases. That is why I have spoken out against the Governor’s proposal to cut state support for our regional Child Abuse and Neglect Councils.
Comments Regarding Choices For A Wiscasset Bypass

I oppose the construction of any of the three proposed Bypass alternatives for the following reasons:
a. The Dollar Cost of building any of the Bypass Alternatives: The approximate $100 million would be better spent on repairing existing roads and bridges.
Only A Comprehensive Energy Policy Will Do
While Congress works to address key energy and climate challenges facing our nation, news out of Washington suggests some lawmakers are once again looking for an easy out of making the serious decisions and taking the bold actions necessary to create a new clean energy economy. A New Year For Parents
For many parents, 2009 was a year in which they watched good things happening in the lives of their children. Our schools are helping students eat healthier foods. There’s greater opportunity for children to be engaged in sports, music, dance or arts. Social events and networking keeps them connected their friends.
COMING TOGETHER
Just about every week in our area, someone is holding a fundraiser for someone or something.
It could be a capital improvement project, it could be a school related trip, or it could be to help a neighbor in need. There is seemingly no end to the good causes that cry out for support.
IT’S STILL ONLY JANUARY
What a terrible start to the year we are off to.
It seems that hopes of leaving the doom and gloom of 2009 behind us with the ringing in of the New Year may have been optimistic, but there is still plenty of time left to salvage a really good year out of this really rough start.
