It may be legally correct for the Great Salt Bay Sanitary District Board of Trustees to dispose of district property as they see fit.
How Is This Going To Help?
A note to the pros and cons on what some consider socialism, aka health reform.
I don’t want to take sides but what amazes me is the clowns we elected down in D.C. and the latest bill some are in a hurry to push through. Better check on it!
Teamwork
In regards to Paul Kando’s letter to the editor in last week’s paper, I would also like to recognize Sal Bartolotta, LeeAnna Hutchings, and Gary Brackett of the Great Salt Bay Sanitary District for their help successfully connecting temporary water to the residents of Church and Vine Streets.
Lighten Up, Loosen Up, And Watch What Happens
The guys would look at Playboy magazine. It seemed at the time that Hugh Hefner set the standard, the ideal, of what every normal man wanted women to represent. I always objected to this on the grounds that love should be accepted in any bodily form or color.
A Social, Economic And Political Necessity
I wish to compliment the extremely well-crafted letter against homosexual marriage rights by Michael Bourland of Newcastle (“Marriage redefinement is the wrong approach”, Page 4, 10/1/09).
Hunters Take Heed
In response to the article last week about expanding the moose hunt to Lincoln County, I believe there are several important factors that hunters and non-hunters alike need to remember and take into consideration.
Think Of The Children
In response to Mr. Olsen’s letter claiming that gay marriage is harmful to children: “Think of the Offspring,” (LCN, page 4, 10/8/09) I too, grew up on a farm in Lincoln County, and my parents were also loving, patient, hard working and committed to their children. They also insisted on respect for difference and equality before the law for all the varieties of us.
Forced To Go Back To The Radio
I hope more citizens are having better luck than we are with the new digital TV antenna system. I also wonder how our seniors are faring with this problem.
Join The Effort And Make A Difference
On behalf of Damariscotta’s Board of Selectmen, it is my pleasure to welcome our recently elected selectman, David Atwater, to the Board. As many in the community know, David has well served our town as the Damariscotta Planning Advisory Committee (DPAC) Chairman for the past two years. As DPAC’s first Chairman, he was instrumental in laying the groundwork for the Committee and its early successes.
There Is No Growth Without Change
In considering the November ballot initiative there seems to be confusion regarding “traditional marriage” and its meaning.
DON’T BE AFRAID OF THE PEOPLE
Last week the U.S. Census Bureau released its report on poverty, income and access to healthcare. The report is considered to be one of the best pictures available on the financial well- being of ordinary Americans.
The Community Is Fortunate
We write to publicly express our utmost appreciation to the Emergency Room staff at Miles Hospital for their outstanding skills and care. When Joan awoke one morning this summer in serious distress, we hurried to the ER.
NEVER THE SAME
Weather wise, Sept. 11, 2001 was a beautiful day. Even the reports of death and destruction coming out of New York City that morning mentioned the crystal clear skies over Manhattan, intentionally or otherwise contrasting nature’s majestic beauty with the manmade horror on the ground.
Natural Beauty Is Hard To Restore
I was interested to read about the temporary windmills possibly being placed around Damariscove and Monhegan.
