Three people escaped a single-vehicle accident with only a single minor injury among them Thursday morning, Aug. 13, in Waldoboro.
According to a preliminary Waldoboro police report, Misty Porter, 34, of Waldoboro, was operating a 2000 Chrysler Sebring convertible south on Route 220 when she swerved to avoid a dead porcupine in the road.
Porter lost control of her vehicle, left the road on the southbound side, and struck a utility pole shortly after 9 a.m.
Porter sustained a facial injury in the crash. The Waldoboro Ambulance Service transported her to LincolnHealth – Miles Campus in Damariscotta, where she was treated and released.
Two passengers, including a 2-year-old female, were unhurt. Route 220 was temporarily closed to through traffic while the scene was cleared.
The Waldoboro Police Department was assisted at the scene by the Waldoboro Ambulance Service and the Waldoboro Fire Department.
