The Central Lincoln County School System (AOS 93) has appointed Steven Bailey as the successor to outgoing Supt. Robert Bouchard.
Bailey, of West Bath, is the assistant superintendent of schools for the South Portland School Dept., according to the department’s website.
According to a brief profile on the website, Bailey began his career in education as a teacher of health, mathematics and physical education.
Bailey served as a principal of three schools – the Main Street School in Exeter, N.H., the John R. Graham School in Veazie and the Dora Small School in South Portland – before moving to South Portland’s central office.
Bailey was the director of curriculum, instruction and assessment for the department before his promotion to assistant superintendent.
Bailey will start his new job July 1.
Following his official, unanimous appointment by the AOS 93 board April 5, Bailey said he’s “extremely happy to be here.”
AOS 93 Vice Chair Bob Westrich, a member of the superintendent search committee, said the committee was “extremely satisfied with the candidate we chose unanimously.”
“We’re very happy for him,” Westrich said.
(The original version of this article, an April 4 posting on the website of The Lincoln County News, referred to Bailey as “a former assistant superintendent in South Portland…” Bailey currently holds the position.)
