A 73-year-old Boothbay man died in a single vehicle car accident on Route 27 in Boothbay just north of the intersection with River Road at approximately 9 a.m. on Wednesday, April 8.
Jamieson W. Brown was driving south on Route 27 in a 2007 black Jeep SUV when the car drove off the road, into a ditch, and struck a utility pole, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Rand Maker said in a press release.
Brown was the sole occupant of the vehicle.
Boothbay Harbor, Boothbay, and Edgecomb fire departments, the Boothbay Region Ambulance Service, and Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the accident.
According to the press release, the man was deceased prior to the arrival of first responders.
As of Friday, April 10, deputies were continuing their investigation with the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Augusta to determine if the individual suffered from a medical emergency prior to the crash, Maker said.
Route 27 was closed to through traffic until approximately 10:30 a.m. when the scene was cleared.
Central Maine Power replaced the utility pole, which snapped due to the accident.
