Boothbay voters created a tax increment financing district and signed off on the donation of an under-utilized town property during annual town meeting May 5.
The vote to create the TIF was 298-214; the vote to donate the 19.8-acre Cross River property to the Boothbay Region Land Trust was 387-125.
The voters also favor a switch to an all-secret-ballot town meeting, 295-210, according to the results of a nonbinding referendum.
The voters approved 11 zoning amendments during the open meeting, including one to allow small boat-building operations in residential areas. The amendment follows the August 2012 shutdown of the River Road shipyard Stimson Marine.
Voters re-elected Selectmen Douglas Burnham and Stephen Ham, choosing the incumbents over challengers Kenneth Chances and Michael Pander.
Likewise, Boothbay-Boothbay Harbor Community School District Trustee Tyler Hodgdon defeated his challenger, Jennifer Greenleaf.
The Lincoln County News will post more details of the meeting here and in the May 8 print edition.
