A June 20 recount of ballots cast June 14 revealed an even closer race for two seats on the Damariscotta Board of Selectmen than initially reported, including a tie between two candidates.
The recount places incumbent Vicki Pinkham in the lead with 233 votes. Dick McLean, the current chairman of the Damariscotta Board of Selectmen, and challenger Josh Pinkham, a former selectman, tied with 232 votes each.
Damariscotta Town Clerk Cheryl Pinkham said she would contact the Maine Municipal Association for legal advice on how to proceed.
The originally tally had Vicki Pinkham in the lead with 235 votes, followed by McLean with 232 and Josh Pinkham with 229.
